Disc golf is an exciting game that combines elements of golf and frisbee. The goal is to land your disc in a special basket in the fewest throws possible. Disc golf develops accuracy, coordination, fitness and strategic thinking.
The game originated in the USA in the 1960s and has grown popular all over the world ever since.
Disc golf can be played almost anywhere with open space: a park, a stadium, a forest or a field. Some cities have dedicated courses — with permanent baskets, or popular parks where players bring portable baskets for the round.

Disc golf is played with special discs of different sizes, shapes and weights. Beginners should start with lighter and slower discs (165–170 g, speed up to 6), which are easier to control.

Keep in mind that throwing distance depends 80% on your technique and skill, not on the disc itself! To throw high-speed discs, first learn the proper body and arm movements, and study how a disc behaves at different release angles and wind directions.
Change the disc's flight numbers with the buttons and watch how the flight path changes. Top-down view of the fairway, right-hand backhand throw.
Numbers 2–3–4 only work when you manage to throw the disc at the speed printed on it. Throw harder and turn may increase; throw softer and fade kicks in earlier. Disc weight also matters (160–170 g for beginners), as does the plastic: check it in person so the disc feels secure and won't slip out of your hand during the throw.
The basic rules of disc golf are very simple: every throw is made from where the previous disc landed, and play continues until the disc lands in the basket. Detailed rules of the game and championships: discgolf.in.ua
The round starts from the tee area of the first basket. After everyone has thrown, the group walks to where the farthest-from-basket disc landed and throws again in turn — until each disc lands in the basket.
When throwing, you may not touch any part of the course except the spot where your previous disc landed — a small area about the size of an A4 sheet behind the disc.
If your disc lands out of bounds, you get a penalty stroke and throw from where the disc crossed the boundary, or from a designated drop zone. In scoring it's marked as OB — a red line above your result.
Your score is the number of throws it took to get the disc into the basket. The goal is to score as few points as possible: the fewer throws, the better.
This table shows round 1 results of a tournament: 4 player divisions and their scores on each basket. Every course has a recommended number of throws (here — 60). Players who took fewer have a negative score (that's good); those who took more are above zero.

In disc golf it's important to master different throw types to plot the most efficient route to the basket. For left-handers all throws are mirrored — and the disc behaves mirrored in the air too. Each throw has its own grip technique, so pay attention to it.
